Four-Year Term - A New Direction 08

Alex Gerulis has been on the ramp at United Airlines for twenty-two years. He has proudly served the membership in ORD as a Shop Steward, Satellite Committee person and Committee Chairperson. He has attended the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center at Placid harbor for both Leadership I and II.

Alex became involved in the IAM because he kept seeing the supervisors bullying the members and he knew it was time to get active. As a Shop Steward and Committeeperson he has been able to work with his AGC, Rich Delaney.

Alex explains, "I felt I was the right guy for the job and watching Rich over the years has taught me how to effectively represent the members at ORD. I'm looking forward to branching out and representing more of the membership."

Alex has a deep respect for organizing and politics but feels that with representation the other two falls into place a lot easier. He explained, "Imagine how much better our lives would be if we had real representation in place since 1995 when the ESOP fell apart. The membership would be in a better place, we would have better curb appeal to non-union interests and we would be able to focus on politics that matter to the bottom of the line of the membership."

Along with the other members of A New Direction 08, Alex is looking forward to representing the membership of District 141 with accountability, integrity and a vision for change.
