Change is in the air

It’s unquestionably in the American psyche. Whether you’re a supporter of Hillary, Obama or McCain, this much is true. The formidable Mrs. Clinton entered with rock-star name recognition, experience, and the backing of a huge political establishment. It was powerful. But Senator Obama’s movement proved more powerful, and it is defined by change.

Here in the relative calm of District 141, change is in the air. With your unprecedented turnout and votes, you’re setting A New Direction in motion within your own union.

While nobody can state precisely what macro-economic changes await aviation, the aim is to focus District 141 on corporations and corporate leaders. The real enemy is never your coworker. It’s not the guy or lady working next to you, or across the nation. Nor is it the Member who voted differently than you, or not at all. The real enemy of working people is in executive board rooms of corporations. The men and women of those executive offices will be the focus of this union. We will mend our most important differences as Brothers & Sisters. Collectively, we retain strength in numbers, and add to it new leaders, challenges, and more determination.

Let’s acknowledge ourselves for being brave enough –or at least open-minded enough– to embrace change and challenge. You and I have done so in an industry defined from its inception by both.
