Frank O”Donnell has been with US Airways for almost twenty-four years. He has worked most of that time in CLT but also working in RDU and PHL. Frank has served his membership at US Airways as a steward and has completed all his years of steward training. His training as an organizer is extended to certification through the George Meaney Organizing Institute.

Frank learned at a young age the difference a union contract could make. He was a union ticket seller for professional sports teams in the Philadelphia area (primarily the Phillies). He explained, “Our stewards impressed upon us the importance of sticking together. When we did? Management always backed down. It realized how important it was to be an active member and I've stayed that way ever since.”

Accountability to the membership is necessary for the District's survival, he explained, “Saying yes for the sake of saying yes is not the right direction for our membership.” Frank will work to address the needs and desires of the membership. Frank further said, “Open communication with no secrets and plenty of honesty will ensure there are no free rides on the member's dime.”

Frank likens the correlation of organizing, representation and politics as parts of an automobile. “Think of the union as an automobile. Organizing is the gas that makes the care run. Representation is the engine and political involvement the lubricant that makes the entire machine move.” We must hold politicians accountable to working families; grow the union through organizing to strengthen the movement; and overachieve in representing those who entrust their futures in our hands.

Frank, along with the other members of A New Direction team, is ready to introduce change for the good of the membership.
